Mr. Sorokin is a graduate of the University of Rochester (B.A., 1973) and Boston University School of Law (J.D., 1976).
Peter S. Sorokin is a member of the firm’s real estate and land use practice group. He has extensive experience in many areas of real estate, including site acquisition (including title matters), real estate financing, construction, commercial leasing, and the sale of properties throughout the country. He has negotiated, on behalf of landlords and tenants, many major office leases for buildings in Connecticut and throughout the country. His clients in major lease and development transactions have included many of the larger developers in Connecticut, and such institutions as The Travelers, Fleet National Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company and CIGNA, and development companies such as Konover Properties Corporation, The Louis Dreyfus Property Group and Capital Properties. He has also had extensive experience in national tenant leasing, on behalf of Aetna Life and Casualty, Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. and Industrial Risk Insurers. He has also had considerable experience representing shopping center owners in retail leasing matters.
In the real estate finance area, he has represented borrowers in conventional construction and permanent mortgage loans from area banks and insurance companies such as Aetna, CIGNA, Travelers, John Hancock and Prudential and in bond issues from the Connecticut Development Authority and from the City of New Haven under the Connecticut City and Town Development Act, and has represented lenders such as Fleet National Bank in construction and permanent financings.
